HOLOS Service Program

More than ever before, the world seems to be shifting into a pattern where direct interaction with others and our natural environment is diminishing. It has become a world where productivity and “doing” are normalized and even rewarded, while presence and a sense of peace fade into the background.

Even with all the distractions and noise, there is a quiet calling, an undercurrent of a longing to live in community and deeper connection with oneself, others, and the Earth… to return to a more natural state of existence. This desire reflects a deeper truth that we are social inter-beings, meant to live in interconnected communities of humans and nature.

Living harmoniously in community means that we are attuned to the needs of the whole system and humans are but one humble element of the whole. As we are in Service to the entire system, our own health and wellbeing rise, and all life of the community can thrive.

At Holos, we embody this wisdom and innate calling through our core principles of Vision, Integrity, and Service.

Our Vision embraces the future with curiosity, innovative spirit, and living in the possibility. It is about pioneering new pathways with transformative leadership, rooted in a sense of unity, oneness, and collaboration.

We are guided by Integrity- a value that serves as a continuous reminder to maintain consistency in our actions and values, considering the entirety of systems and the implications of our choices.

Service is the heartbeat of Holos, where we nurture heart-centered connections, radiating kindness and attunement to the well-being and growth of others and the community. This value encapsulates our dedication to selfless focus, profound kindness, and harmonious attunement, ensuring our actions and services emanate from a place of genuine desire to help and support.

It’s about creating an environment where every interaction is a stepping stone to deeper connections and community building.

If you are feeling the calling for a reconnection to yourself, others, and the Earth, Holos can provide fertile soil for your personal growth and transformation. Tucked within 200 acres of lush jungle in the Diamante Valley, Costa Rica, the Holos Service Program offers opportunities for learning, expansion, and re-connection through disconnection.

The land naturally invites you to detach from the electronic and materialistic world, through a complete immersion into nature and Service. As one truly sinks into the act of Service without attachment to reward or outcome, an opening for new experiences of receiving is created. The Service Program is about connecting with the rhythm of reciprocity- the experience of receiving through giving.

In this program, all pathways of Service typically run from one month (Exploration Path) to three months (Leadership Path) in duration with an invitation of 20 hours of Service a week. Holos provides a rustic living space and welcomes Service Guests to live on the land, access waterfalls, hiking trails, and organic fruits and vegetables from our farms. Service Guests are invited to join in activities at the Community Sun Temple such as ecstatic dance, breathwork, and informational sessions. Online and in-person training are provided, as well as direct support from Holos staff throughout the duration of the program.

Service Guests must be able to support their own travel and transportation needs, as well as personal needs (including meals) while participating in the program. This program does not offer remunerations for services provided. Our goal is to offer Service Guests continuous support, appreciation for unique gifts, dependable and authentic relationships, and a sense of Home. Our Service Program is built around healing the land, healing the human, healing the community.

Currently, we offer two pathways of Service:

Regenerative Agriculture & Permaculture and Resident Sage.
Both Pathways of service are open to the Exploration and Leadership options related to the length of your stay;

  1. Exploration: This option involves a one-month commitment to the Service Program. The Service Guest can enjoy the natural gifts from the Holos land and community and will be provided comfortable housing accommodations in exchange for 20 hours of service a week.

  2. Leadership: This option involves a three-month (or more) commitment to the Service Program. The Service Guest can enjoy the natural gifts from the Holos land and community and is provided comfortable housing accommodations in exchange for 20 hours of service a week. In addition, this role invites the growth of developing leadership skills through providing hands-on training to new Service Guests, influencing and implementing standard program procedures, and acting as a liaison between the Service Guests and the Holos staff and community.

Please note that housing accommodations are different for the Exploration (Click here to see the housing accommodations) and Leadership options (Click here to see the housing accommodations).

REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE & PERMACULTURE:

This path of Service offers a unique opportunity to learn ancient practices from indigenous people related to regenerative agriculture, such as organic soil production, reforestation, and greenhouse/farming.

This path is a beautiful way to develop a deeper understanding of the interconnectivity of creation. Moderate physical exertion is required within an often hot, rainy and humid climate.

A requirement of 20 Service hours a week is desired with a routine schedule (early-morning to midday).

Basic proficiency in Spanish is optimal; however, training can be translated into English as needed with direct support on the ground.

No previous regenerative agriculture experience is required.

Resident Practitioner:

This path of Service welcomes a practitioner or facilitator certified in the field of healing arts and holistic wellness.

It calls for initiative and creativity in developing and organizing greater community engagement through offering therapeutic experiences to the Holos and surrounding community members at no cost.

Services may include educational workshops, somatic therapies, bodywork, yoga, breathwork, authentic movement, etc. and can be offered in the Holos Community Sun Temple.

Certifications in the respective professional fields are required prior to acceptance into this path of Service.

A minimum of 20 Service hours a week are required, with flexibility to accommodate the schedules of community members.

Basic proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.

REsident sage:

This path of Service summons an energy of autonomy, intellect and vision to support special projects within the Holos community.

It allows space for originality to create educational offerings and teachings at the Community Sun Temple.

It welcomes ingenuity around developing broader community programs, supplementing Holos social media content and supporting newsletters.

Specific talents, knowledge and professional experience of Service Guests may drive the direction of this path of Service.

A minimum of 20 Service hours a week is required, with flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the community.

Basic proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
